Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has built out its London equity team with the appointment of Kayvan Vahid as head of equity Europe core and value.
Vahid will report to Jörg De Vries-Hippen, head of investments equity, Europe. Vahid will be tasked with enhancing AllianzGI’s capabilities in the fundamentally-managed European core and value space, which it terms a key segment for its clients.
On Vahid’s appointment, De Vries-Hippen said: “Kayvan’s investment approach, particularly his experience in value investing, will complement the existing team while bringing a fresh perspective to our existing approach and client solutions.
“Kayvan’s expertise will complement AllianzGI’s experience in the value space and help establish core and value as an additional pillar of the AllianzGI equity platform.”
Vahid spent more than 20 years at UBS Asset Management, most recently as deputy head of global value equity and head of European mid cap equities at UBS Asset Management (UBS AM) in London.
There, he was responsible for managing a range of institutional and retail funds across global, European and UK equity mandates. Prior to those positions, he was portfolio manager for European small and mid-caps and European equities research analyst at UBS AM.
Virginie Maisonneuve, global chief information officer, equity, AllianzGI, said: “We are pleased to add someone of Kayvan’s calibre to our equities team. He brings with him extensive knowledge and understanding of European equities and value investing and will further enhance our expertise in this area. Working closely with colleagues across the equities platform, I am sure Kayvan will help unlock new and exciting opportunities for our clients.”
