Carmignac has appointed Lloyd McAllister as its new head of sustainable investment, coinciding with the retirement of stewardship director Sandra Crowl this month.
McAllister joins from Newton Investment Management, where he worked for nearly five years, most recently as head of ESG research.
In his new role, he will be based in London and will report to Maxime Carmignac, head of the group’s UK branch and daughter of Edouard Carmignac, who founded the asset management firm in 1989.
McAllister will lead the firm’s sustainable investment team, which supports the fund management team with financial analysis, thematic research and engagement.
He will oversee the firm’s strategic sustainable investment roadmap by supporting its ESG regulation group and helping to capitalise on the existing ESG framework.
IN addition, he will help identify opportunities for the business to bolster its ESG areas of focus, which are climate, empowerment and leadership. He will also join the firm’s strategic development committee.
‘As a high-conviction active manager, sustainable investing is at the heart of our business and investment process,” said Maxime Carmignac.
She added, ‘It is also one of our clients’ top priorities and the demand for transparent, differentiated and genuinely sustainable investment solutions continues to grow. I am thrilled that Lloyd will be joining the team.
I also want to wish Sandra Crowl the very best for her retirement. Over the last decade, we have witnessed a profound evolution in the ESG investing landscape.
McAllister said,‘Carmignac is well known for its bold approach and, as a family business, a long-term mindset putting sustainability at the core of its investment approach.
I look forward to joining the business at an exciting time in its development and working with the team to further expand its sustainable investing framework.’
