The Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) has appointed Carrie Freeborough as head of trading and managing director.
Freeborough was until recently senior VP and head of trading for global equity, FX and derivatives at Mackenzie Investments, a US$200 billion AUM Canadian-based global mutual fund, where she oversaw trading desks in Asia, Europe, Canada and the US.
She has over 25 years of global trading experience working on both sides of the street, with most of her career spent at global bulge bracket brokers including Citi, UBS and BMO, before moving to the buy side nearly a decade ago. She also spent four years lecturing at the Rotman School of Management.
Freeborough earned an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario and sits on the board of The Toronto Grace Hospital, Capitalize for Kids and the National Organization of Investment Professionals.
