Irish capital markets firm Davy Capital Markets has named Cathal Kielty its new head of equity trading, based in Ireland.
The former equity trader, a role in which he spent more than a decade at the firm, also had year-long stints in the firm’s private client custody and settlements division, as well as its finance division.
A Davy spokesperson told BEST EXECUTION: “Cathal Kielty was appointed head of equity trading at Davy in December 2023, having joined Davy as a graduate in 2011. In his new role, Cathal will lead a Davy trading team which has been the leading market maker in Irish equities for the past 30 years with a growing presence in the UK midcap market.”
“Global capital markets have been challenged in recent years, impacting primary deal activity. Reduced rate and broader economic uncertainty is expected to support a phased market recovery through 2024, in which Davy will actively participate,” the spokesperson added.
Kielty replaces Andrew Arnott.
