Exegy has partnered with BMLL to enable qualitative traders to use granular historical data to fine-tune algos, as well as for back-testing and simulations to help derive alpha.
BMLL provides normalised historical T+1 cloud-based data from more than 75 global venues, covering equities, futures and ETFs, with a minimum three years of history. BMLL says its data engineering processes capture every message with nanosecond timestamp precision, delivering clean and complete capital markets data, and claims this partnership will free up the time Quants spend on the analysis process, “democratising” access to trading intelligence.
David Taylor, CEO of Exegy, says: “We looked at a number of historical data vendors, and soon realised BMLL is in a class of its own. Accessing BMLL data now enables our clients to do strategy back-testing on high-fidelity data and execute using our real-time data. What sets BMLL apart is the way the data is sourced, saved and curated.
“We are always looking to support our clients as they develop their businesses, working with experts in various fields such as BMLL; with the recent announcement of our newest ticker plant, our clients performing quantitative trading strategies have the best available tools for processing real-time market data, now with the possibility of acquiring comprehensive historical data and analytics.”
Taylor told Best Execution: “Our partnership allows us to jointly address the comprehensive development lifecycle of trading applications, from alpha discovery through testing and analysis to real-time production.”
BMLL CEO Paul Humphrey said: “Firms increasingly need a deeper understanding of market shifts, liquidity dynamics and opportunities for alpha. This requires rapid access to full-depth order book historical data— engineered and formatted ready for use.
“BMLL’s Level 3 data and Exegy’s low latency capabilities are built on the same PCAP source data, making it easy for users to access both real-time and historical data sets with the same precision and granularity for their research. We are excited to work with Exegy to offer our products and services to its global client base.”
Humphrey explained to Best Execution that the firm is seeing market participants increasingly demand cloud and on-premise access to both high quality historical and real time data sets, with the same precision and granularity, to conduct their research and execution.
“The global race for best-in-class data and analytics is truly on. Market participants are becoming increasingly sophisticated and BMLL and Exegy have partnered to enable clients to win,” Humphrey said.
