Kirstie MacGillivray has become the CEO of Aegon Asset Management UK, a buy-side firm with €315 billion assets under management. MacGillivray has been the head of multi-asset dealing & treasury at the firm since 2008, and is the first head of trading at a buy-side firm to make CEO in living memory.
MacGillivray also chairs Aegon’s Front Office Governance Committee. She joined what was then Kames Capital in 2008 from Barrie & Hibbert where she advised companies on risk management of derivatives. Kames was acquired by Aegon in 2020.
Prior to this she was a partner in BCS Asset Management, a global macro hedge fund. Previously she worked for seven years in equity derivatives sales, initially for Morgan Stanley, and, latterly, for UBS Investment Bank.
She started her career at Abbey National Asset Managers as a member of the investment strategy unit. She has over 20 years’ industry experience, and studied Commercial Law & taxation at Glasgow University.
